Brette McGlasson
Artist & Member
Brette McGlasson is a full-time artist living in Milton, KY. She creates dynamic works in watercolor, pastel, collage, decoupage, and a variety of mixed media. McGlasson's works examine the individual's relationship with the body, contemplating the often terrifying and revolting experience of living in and through human flesh. Her use of vibrant colors and rich darks create intense compositions that challenge the viewer to examine their comfort (or discomfort) with their body.

McGlasson is a founding member of Circe Society Artists. She actively keeps a painting studio on site where she can be found working most days of the week. She's skilled in her medium and highly prolific. Her dedication to creating ensures that the studio is always active, inspiring the other members to recommit to their own studio practices. McGlasson's dedication to her art practice is a vital asset to Circe Society.

Making and Sharing Art in Madison
The ability to create and share art is a powerful gift—and we plan to make the most of it.
Circe Society Artists is a collective of women artists working and living in Madison, IN and the towns that immediately surround it—Hanover, IN and Milton, KY. While our work is varied, we share these common goals:
-
to create, share, and sell our own artwork,
-
to connect with other local creatives,
-
and support the growth of our local artistic community.
About Circe Society Artists
Starving Artists?
The stereotype of the “starving artist” is all too common. Each artist in our collective is multi-hyphenate, using all their skills and abilities to make ends meet. Most of us have other jobs and obligations in addition to our studio practice and managing the gallery. We genuinely appreciate your support, whether that’s a dollar in the tip jar or commissioning your own custom piece.

Circe Society was founded in Madison, IN during September of 2024 after the closure of its predecessor, Peddie and Fish Artist Collective. We owe a huge debt to Hannah Peddie Miller and Molly Fish, the founders of one of Madison's most impactful art's organizations. We hope to carry on their legacy of innovation and courageous art making.

Madison is home to an established arts community, including the Madison Art Club, Madison Area Arts Alliance, and the annual Chautauqua Festival of Art. However, there is a limited number of local galleries for art professionals to partner with. We hope to create a space where local and regional artists can share and sell their work and make connections with one another. The support and creation of a regional arts community that can contribute to a thriving arts business will only strengthen Madison's appeal as a tourist destination.
Independent local artists are a rare and often fleeting asset. If you want to see artists thrive in Madison, it’s up to you—tip the buskers, buy the stickers, and tell your rich friends about our work. Seriously, spread the word. We couldn’t do this without you!
